Maj Gen (retd) Abdur Rashid speaks to DOT :
BNP tries foiling an election through sabotage once it senses a defeat. According to the media reports, BNP and Jamaat have increased their contact with Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. Telephonic conversation in this regard has been leaked out as well. They are plotting violence centring the polls slated for December 30. Our detectives have much information about the matter. IN the pretext of jogging, Jamaat and its student wing Shibir are chalking out plans of violence. In order to get rid of such a fear, every political party needs to remain away from violence. They cannot engage in violence as well and inform the lawmen if any person tries doing so. The people have to be aware of such a situation so they cannot allow any such incident to take place. If they even notice such a thing which can lead to violence, they will have to report that to the law enforcing agencies, which will take proper measures. If it is so, the country will remain safe and the possibility of the election being halted will reduce.
Bangladesh is the 25th country vulnerable to terrorism threat. A year ago, it ranked 21st on the same category. The report is prepared on the status how active terrorist organisations are in a country. The terrorist organisations of our country is now leadership-less. They have lost the capacity of launching attacks. The IS has many links in the US and west Europe. They can do any sabotage anytime, but we are free from such a fear. From that ground, we are much more secure than the US. Based on an interview by Khairul Alam, translated by Sayeed Muhammad. Maj Gen (retd) Abdur Rashid is a Security Analyst
