Police in a drive arrested four local leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, including its he upazila unit general secretary, while
holding a clandestine meeting at Diadanga School and College in Bhurungamari upazila early Friday.
The arrestees are Ruhul Islam Hamidi, general secretary of Bhurungamari upazila unit Jamaat-e-Islami, president Ayub Ali, and secretary Ramjan Ali of Tilai union unit and Nazrul Islam, secretary of Joypuriri Haat union unit of Jamaat.
Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested them while they were holding aclandestine meeting in the dead of night, said Imtiaz Kabir, officer-in-charge of Bhurungamari Police Station.
