Arafat Hasan of DOT : With attaining over 50,000 votes from the Gajwel assembly constituency, Telangana caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is all set to form the government in the state for the second time. Meanwhile his son KTR Rama Rao snatched victory from the Congress led grand alliance in Sircilla.
KCR led Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) won 41 seats and was leading in 40 seats, according to the Election Commission website. Congress won 12 seats while leading in seven seats.
Telangana, the youngest state of India, went to polls on December 7 to elect its second assembly. This is the first election in Telangana after the state was created in 2014. Around 70% people exercised their voting rights in Telangana Assembly Elections, according to the Election Commission.
Telangana was supposed to have its second election in May, 2019. However, the chief minister of the state, K Chandrasekhar Rao, dissolved the assembly in September 2018 and announced for early election.
