Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina will begin her election campaign from Gopalganj today, staring by paying homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at his mausoleum at Tungipara in Gopalganj.
The information was revealed yesterday by AL Joint General Secretary Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak at a press conference at the party president’s Dhanmondi political office in the capital.
Sheikh Hasina will leave the capital Dhaka for Tungipara of Gopalganj by road from her official Ganabhaban residence at 8am, according to a faxed message, signed by Prime Minister’s APS-I Kazi Nishat Rasul sent to Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner.
She will then place a wreath at the grave of Bangabandhu and joined a munajat and offering of fateha at 12.30pm on the day.
At 2.30pm, the premier will address a public rally at the Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Government Degree College ground at Kotalipara in the district.
Nanak said election manifesto of Awami League will be announced after the Victory Day on December 16.
