Members of Forest Department in a drive recovered 22 kilograms of venison from the Sundarbans at Charkhali Beel area of Sharankhola upazila in Bagerhat, reports The Financial Express. Acting on a tip-off, a team conducted a drive in the mangrove forest, said Md Joynal Abedin, forest officer of Sundarbans. Sensing the presence of the team, the poachers left the place immediately, said the official.
adding that the team recovered the venison along with eight hooves, 600-feet traps and a boat from the place.
The team of poachers numbering four to five entered the forest and trapped two deer, said the forest official.
A case was filed under Wildfire Protection Act, the officer added, reports UNB.
