Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, the chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), has announced that the organization will look into tax evasion allegations made against Dr Kamal Hossain, a top leader of the Jatiya Oikya Front. “The NBR will look into the allegation in such a way that it has no impact on the 11th parliamentary election,” said Bhuiyan. The anti-graft watchdog had sent a letter to Kamal Hossain, also the president of Gano Forum, asking him to answer question on tax evasion.
“We are working on the investigation and a little time is needed,” the NBR Chairman exlpained at a media briefing in Dhaka on Sunday.
Bhuiyan further revealed that that they do not want to create any confusion by arresting him as he is involved with the opposite party ahead of the elections, but are ‘looking into’ the allegation in a fair way.
Kamal Hossain is not running as a candidate but his new anti-government alliance with the BNP will compete in the election.
