The president of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College’s governing body Golam Ashraf Talukdar, apologized yesterday over the suicide of Aritry Adhikary, a ninth-grader of the school.
“The governing body is shocked and are apologizing to Aritry’s parents,” Golam Ashraf said at a press briefing inside the school premises, reported The Daily Star, adding that if necessary, members of the governing body will resign for the sake of the institution and its students.
“We are aware of their (students) demands,” he said,“If anyone from the governing body wants to resign now, they can. I will convey the message among the governing body members in our meeting.”
Regarding the postponement of examinations, the governing body president said the students will have to sit for their exams and the governing body will decide what to do if the students refuse it.
The students have been demanding resignation of the governing body members after the suicide of Aritry.
