Prime Minister’s Intern-ational Affairs Adviser Gowher Rizvi has called for social boycott of the corrupt to check corruption in the society.
“Law is not enough to reduce corruption. They need to be socially boycotted,” he said at a program of the Transparency International Bangladesh.
He commented that poverty cannot be reduced if corruption persists, and lamented that the society as a whole seems not vocal enough against corruption.
“As long as there will be hypocrisy among us, civil society will also be responsible,” Gawher Rizvi said.
He was speaking at TIB’s annual Election Investigative Journalism Awards 2018 ceremony at TIB Conference room in Dhaka.
Regarding the Digital Security Act, he encouraged to continue discussions over the law. “Law can be amended if found necessary.”
“Freedom of expression is the foundation of civilization. Without it, the civilization cannot be established,” he said.
