Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced yesterday that the final list of the grand alliance candidates for the upcoming Jatiya Sangsad (JS) polls will be declared in a day or two.
“We’ll be able to finalize our list for the next polls in a day or two . . . Our candidates’ names will be disclosed jointly,” he said at a press conference at the AL President Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office, reported BSS.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, added: “A cordial relation still prevails among the partners of the AL-led alliance. And there is no distrust and trouble as well.”
He was very critical of BNP and alleged that it set a record over nomination business. “Many leaders, who earlier took money for giving party nominations to their party men, went into hiding as nomination-seekers are now going door-to-door.”
“Zia family indulged in conspiracies to destroy the AL after the August 15 carnage. It also helped the Bangabandhu’s killers to flee abroad and subsequently passed an indemnity ordinance to save the assassinators.”
Replying to a query on the replacement of Jatiya Party secretary general’s post, Quader said, “We have no interference here. It’s the internal matter of Jatiya Party. I don’t want to make any comment to this end.”
