Action if polls campaign runs at Bangabhaban-Ganabhaban: EC

M Humayun Kabir of DOT : Election Commissioner Rafiqul Islam said running any polls campaign at the state residences–Bangabhaban and Ganabhaban will be counted as a violation to the electoral codes and action will be taken if anyone is found to do so.
Citing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s recently-held meet with ex-army officers at the Ganabhaban, he said: “The meeting the premier held with the ex-military officers at the Ganabahban doesn’t violate the electoral codes.”
The election commissioner was talking to the reporters at his office in Nirbachan Bhaban in the city’s Agargaon yesterday afternoon, reports Banglanews24.com.
However, Rafiqul Islam reacted in wake of BNP’s allegation that the November 27 meeting has breached electoral disciplinary rules.
Election Commission has revised polls schedule for December 30. The authorities have fixed November 28 as the deadline for filing nomination papers, December 2 for scrutiny and December 9, last date of withdrawal.
