Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, MP, today said the demand or breaking laws or violating constitution marking upcoming national election are completely unacceptable.
“The next general election will be held as per the constitution. We are inviting all the political parties to take part in the election. But any demand of violating the constitution marking the election is unacceptable,” he said.
The Awami League leader came up with the observations while talking to newsmen after holding a views exchange meeting with leaders and activists of the party at his Kushtia town home this morning.
“BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been sent to jail after getting convicted in a graft case. BNP has to keep in mind that now she has two ways to come out of jail, one is if she is acquitted by High Court or if she receives presidential clemency after seeking mercy, pleading guilty in the case. There is no other way for her to get out of jail now,” Hanif added.
Kushtia district Awami League general secretary Asgar Ali, organizing secretary Sheikh Hasan Mehedi and Kushtia city Awami League president Taijal Ali Khan were present on the occasion, among others.
