Desk Report: About 60-70 kilometer electrification in 50 villages has been accomplished through setting up a new electric sub-station in Bagha upazila of Rajshahi at the cost of Tk 10 crore, reports Daily Observer.
About 15 thousand families have been beneficiary through the work done at the initiatives of State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Shahriar Alam MP.
Around 4,500 new connections have been established in different villages of the upazila till January to September this year. The number of Palli Bidyut Samity’s clients in this upazila has increased to 52 thousand.
According to the sources, a new 10 MW electric sub-station has started in Monigram area under Natore Palli Bidyut Samity-2 under Bagha sub-zonal office.
After the launch of this sub-station, electricity has been supplied everywhere in Bagha upazila through 4 filters. As a result, electricity supply has increased and load shedding has decreased.
In the last two-three years, new electricity connections have been made to 9,600 families of 50 villages along 60 km road using rod-cement poll. For this, the expenditure of the government is 6 crore 18 lakh 60 thousand taka.
When contacted State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, he said, “Every house of Charghat-Bagha will be brought under electrification by 2019.
Those who have not been able to get electricity, they will get electricity this time.”
Amjad Hossain, Assistant General Manager of Bagha Palli Vidyut Sub Zonal Office, said there is no problem since the launch of a sub-station there. Due to the demand of 6 megawatts capacity in the upazila, the load shedding is now almost zero with stock of 9-megawatts.
