Our Heroes, Our Liabilities

    It seems our every single morning starts with bad news such as millions of dollars are being hacked, girls are getting raped, sons are sending their parents in old-homes and what not. Political leaders to Businessmen, Development institute to corporate houses all are unhappy with media because it was so negative about them ! Do not forget, negativity sells!
    If you are scolding your kids for facebook addiction, please stop right now! Still there is something good about facebook! On top connecting each other, facebook now also giving us the opportunity to experience some good news. It is the social media which tells you, returning to village and ensuring safe food for your own villagers is much important than the job of a scientist. It shows you, a young couple from their own initiative started school for those who once were coal mine smugglers.
    Social Media also inspire you to leave highly paid corporate job only to feed hungry and unprivileged people. Do not be surprised if you are exposed to a story where a mafia don left his shameful work and dedicated rest of his life for those who could not afford to have their own food. Who knows, one day your facebook addicted son or daughter become inspired by a rickshaw puller who saved his 30 years of income only to build a village hospital or a mother who started a hospital with her own money! So, think twice before you stop your kids from using facebook!
    Living examples
    It does not matter how much money you have but to remain in the hearts of millions of people forever, something extra-ordinary works needed. To illustrate, Moosa Bin Shamsher had millions of dollars but no one heard anything good about him. Moreover, he is now seen as a criminal accused of money laundering. Undoubtedly, Abdul Kadir Mulla had not as money as Mossa but only a big heart to stand besides thousands of people during their miseries and awful situations.
    We may not like Ananta Jalil’s acting but it becomes extremely heartwarming also inspiring when sees this actor voluntarily taking responsibility of Rajib’s family, who died in road accident in the capital. We can hate some doctors for being cruel and irresponsible to their patients but not physician like Dr. Ejaj, a popular actor, also known as ‘Doctors of Poor’ for his immense dedication and respect for his patients.
    Often poor people are seen as greedy to many of us. But person like Moyser Sheikh who recently returned the lost wallet to its owner worth of more than taka 2 lac broke the stereotype ‘poor are always greedy’. If all poor were born as greedy, individual like Azhar Ali, never could spend his last 20 years serving free to manage traffic control.
    Often online and off-line we criticize students wings of political party for being so corrupted and merciless. But we hardly pay attention to their good initiative. For instance, a wing of political party at Chattogram Medical College renovated college library, ensured health cards, scholarship to poor students, setting up CCTV and some other commendable initiatives for the betterment of college students. Recently, a former student leader also helped a student who own a scholarship in China but had no money to travel.
    If you have become hopeless thinking country is going to the hell, you are wrong. Still there some individuals who did not lose heart and had faith on their spirit. It becomes very motivational for us when we hear a group of people in a village voluntarily had built not only 1 or 2 but more than 15 small scale bridges. All these people who did not choose the ‘publicity’ stunts for the public welfare, most probably inspired hundreds of people around the country.
    Things we can do
    In the age of 21st century social media now considered as one of the thriving platforms not only for networking but also for reaching millions of netizens. So, now it hardly matters if mainstream media gives less importance on human interest stories as we now have strong platform like facebook and you tube. Facebook pages like Leande, Togbog, Roar already started its operation in an intent to reach more netizens so that they are exposed to hundreds of inspiring stories daily.
    Now a day motivational speaker often used to influence and motivate others in starting a particular activity or a habit. Incorporating motivational speakers in school colleges, universities, government offices can be an effective way to inspire more people to join welfare activities from their respective positions.
    Celebrities has a great impact motivating, influencing others people to follow heathy practices. Stars like Tamim, Shakib can inspire millions of people especially those heroes who stood for people’s miseries. Personally, our star cricketers can meet those heroes with a bunch of flowers, commit them of further support for similar activities and a facebook post for their followers. Who knows, some of their fans can motivate themselves to start welfare works.
