Fears and fright of abduction spree: enforced disappearance return

An atrocious activities, dreadful violation of human rights and even an international crime creates shocking scenario returns like previous years.
    In recent years, occurrences of enforced disappearance are on the spree in Bangladesh. Claiming to be members of law enforcement agencies cease people mysteriously even in the wide light of day. Constant fear and disparity among people creeps.
    Disappearance, abduction, killing after abduction, recovering dead body gets usual, habitual and everyday phenomenon in Bangladesh.
    From January to June 2018 a total 24 people have been disappeared by law enforcement agency LEA. Out of them 03 were found dead, 08 returned home, 06 were produced to court while nobody knows what happened to the rest 02 poor victims. Human Rights Support Society, HRSS, find this recent development.
    At least 340 abductions were reported in the five years in accordance with and estimation from rights group Ain O Salish Kendra, ASK. The progress of enforced disappearances comprises 53 in 2013, 88 in 2014, 55 in 2015 and 91 in 2016. By the end of November 2017, at least 54 people went to enforced disappearances. Most alarming of all was the number of noted individuals went missing since 2013.
    The government and law enforcing authorities are found sluggish to play any role against this massive encroachment of human right. In addition, they seem to be reluctant to reveal the truth behind this law breaking events.
    A small number of fortunate victims returned from their unidentified confinement neither disclosed the identity of the offenders nor expressed their experiences during detention due to trauma and other ‘mysterious’ reasons.
    Enforced disappearance covers abduction, missing out by agents or negotiators of the State or organized groups of individuals. Seemingly, they act with Government’s support or acceptance. The victim disappears. The established order neither accept responsibility for the dead, nor account for the location, situation of the victim.
    The incidences of disappearance have already caused trigger this year by frightening people. Crucial disorder in national life bring forth fears and fright through raiding the political and administrative culture of Bangladesh.
