Rebels, Turkey prepared for battle, but assault could be delayed

    Nahian Arefin: After last week’s summit between Iran, Russia and Turkey about Syria’s Idlib province, the bombardment of the last rebel bastion intensified significantly in the war ravaged coun
    try. Based on the military victory of President Bashar al-Assad and against a rebellion that began in 2010, Edilib became the last obstacle.
    Russia and Iran both are aliased against the rebels in Idlib. They decided to fight the rebels with full-fledged onslaught by Syrian government forces.
    But the both sides have stepped up their military preparation because they need some time before the main attack.
    Tariq Sulaq, commander of the second coastal division part of al-Jabah al Wataniya lil-Tahir (NLF) said, “I don’t think there will be a [large-scale] attack on Idlib, in any [point]”
    He told to Al Jazeera, “I think we are in a period of [searching for] a solution for Syria.”
    Khalid Rahal, who is a former commander of opposite armed group al-Hijra ila-Allah (Hijra to Allah), currently resides in Turkey, agreed that an invective might not start soon because political negotiations still ongoing.
    “The Russians and the regime are preparing; there are convoys, they are amassing troops [near the front line], but I think a political solution is still in process,” he added.
    Sulaq also confirmed that heavy weapons, along with tanks, military carriers and batteries have already entered in Idlib.
    Both Rahal and Sulaq confirmed that Idlib is ready for any kind of armed conflict.
