Kabir Humayun: Traffic division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police has filed 4,838 cases against different modes of vehicles for violating traffic rules.
During simultaneous drives on the city streets on
Sunday, it also realised over 31.52 lakh in fines for traffic rule violation, said an official release, reports BSS.
It said, of the total cases, 276 cases were lodged for driving on the wrong side, 46 for using hydraulic horn, seven for using hooter and beckon light and 19 others for using tinted glass.
A total of 2,152 motorcycles owners were sued during the drive. Police also seized 115 other motorcycles for violation of the traffic rules.
Traffic police also dumped 34 vehicles and wrecked 792 others.
