Tiger leave for UAE sans Tamim, Rubel

    Desk Report: Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal and pace bowler Rubel Hossain failed to catch-up the plane with the Asia Cup bound Bangladesh squad due to visa complication, reports Daily Asian Age.
    The duo is expected to leave as soon as get their visas while manager Khaled Mahmud also failed to obtain the visa to be part of the squad that travel to UAE to play the multi-national tournament. Chief selector Minhajul Abedin, who is expected to be part of the touring squad also failed to obtain visa.
    ”This is not a big issue. Probably there was some technical problem that prompted their stay in Dhaka,” said a BCB official. “We will get the visa within a day or two and they will fly immediately after we obtain it from the embassy,” he added.
    Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the tournament opener while they will play Afghanistan in the last match of the group phase on September 20. According to Tigers Sri Lankan trainer Mario Villavarayan is expected to play the role of manager until Mahmud reached Dubai.
    Meanwhile, Tigers left for United Arab Emirates (UAE) yesterday to take part in the ACC Asia Cup scheduled to begin on September 15 in UAE.
    ”We are focusing to play good cricket during the group phase while after crossing the first hurdle we want to achieve championship,”said Mushfiqur Rahim.
