Nahian Arefin: Australia and New Zealand interested to work with Bangladesh and committed give every kind of support to vulnerable women and girls, providing shelter for Rohingya people who are living in Cox’s Bazar.
A delegation from the High Commission of New Zealand, New Delhi and Australia visited Cox’s Bazar on September 4-5. They came to see the current situation of Rohingya camp.
According to Australian High Commission, “The visit was a part of a broader visit by the New Zealand High Commissioner Joanna Kempkers to Bangladesh from September 2-6.”
Joanna Kempkers said, “New Zealand applauds the government of Bangladesh for its ongoing efforts to support Rohingya people.”
Australian High Commissioner Julia Niblett said, “A year on form of the onset of the crisis, it is incredible to see how much work has been done to provide life saving service for over 7 hundred thousand Rohingya in need.”
She also added, “However, there is still more to be done, particularly in addressing gender-based violence and supporting women and girls. Australia remains committed to this going forward.”
