Hossen Sohel: Police have finalised the charges against two of the owners of transport company and four of its worker in a case over the deaths of two college students in the Airport Road crash that triggered a massive movement, reports bdnews24.com.
The charge-sheet of the sensational case will be submitted to court within Thursday, Abdul Baten, said an additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch.
“The allegations against the six accused, including the two owners of Jabale Noor, have been proved,” he said.
The six accused in the case are Jabale Noor owners Shahadat Hossain and Zahangir Alam, drivers Masum Billah and Zubayer Sumon, and the drivers’ assistants Enayet Hossain and Kazi Asad.
Zahangir and Asad are on the run while the four others are behind bars. Shahadat, Masum and Zubayer have also given confessional statements in court.
Detective Baten said they were trying to catch Zahangir and Asad.
A bus of the company ploughed into a group of students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College, killing Dia Khanom Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib, and injuring several others on July 29.
The incident triggered widespread student protests that brought the capital to a halt for over a week and forced the authorities to take road safety measures and steps to pass a law prescribing tougher punishment of errant transporters.
