Two staff in B’desh’s Riyadh mission dismissed for torturing domestic help

    Desk Report: Bangladesh Embassy in Saudi Arabia has suspended its two staff allegedly for torturing domestic help Runa Laila, reports Daily Observer. The embassy took the decision following reports on repression on the victim published in different print and electronic media in the country. The suspended are legal assistants Md Lokman and Fahad Islam, said UNB.

    The housemaid, Runa Laila, has already returned home.

    A high-level committee has also been formed to look into the incident. The alleged staff will face permanent dismissal from job and legal action if they are proved guilty.

    Ambassador of Bangladesh Embassy to KSA Golam Moshi said, “Bangladesh embassy is committed to ensure protection of female domestic helps in the country.”

    The embassy will also show zero tolerance against any wrongdoings of any employees, the official added.
