Abrar Hussain: The High Court is scheduled to hear the bail petition of eminent photographer Dr Shahidul Alam today, in a case filed under Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.
The HC bench of Justice Md Ruhul Quddus and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman passed the ‘Not Today’ order yesterday after the state had sought time for the petition. Barrister Sara Hossain stood for Alam while Deputy Attorney General Arbibinda Kumar Roy stood for the state, reported Banglanews.
Sara Hossen told reporters yesterday: “On behalf of Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General informed the court that Attorney General himself wants to be present on hearing of the petition. For this reason, they want time up to tomorrow. Later, the court gave ‘Not Today’ order.”
“Hopefully, hearing will be held on Tuesday,” she added.
Dr Shahidul Alam, Drik Gallery owner, was picked up from his Dhanmondi residence on August 5 after authorities filed the case against Alam for ‘spreading propaganda and false information’ on Facebook and electronic media against the government.
His wife said her husband gave an interview to international media about the student protest and came live on Facebook about the issue a number of times.
