Three found dead after Pabna boat capsize

    Sayeed Muhammad: A diving squad has recovered the bodies of three people who were missing after a boat capsized in the Chalan Beel of Pabna’s Chatmohar upazila, with two others still untraced.
    The divers recovered the bodies of two women and a child, said Chatmohar Upazila UNO Sarkar Ashim Kumar, reports The Financial Express citing bdnews24.com.
    The deceased are Shahanaz Parveen Parul, 45, Momtaz Parveen Shiuli, 45, and Sadia Khatun, 10.
    Shiuli’s husband, Billol Hossain Goni, 52, and Sadia Khatun’s father, Rafiqul Islam Swapan Biswas, 44, are still missing.
    The boat had capsized in the Handial Paikpara area around 8pm on Friday. Four people were initially reported missing, but the count was raised to five afterwards.
    The group had been touring the Chalan Beel, the country’s largest swampland, on the boat, which capsized in the Paikpara area as they were headed back.
    Police and a diving squad from Rajshahi are conducting rescue operations, UNO Kumar said.
    The sunken vessel has been located, said Pabna Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Director Saiful Islam, adding search operations for the missing were underway.
