Rizvi leads sudden rally demanding Khaleda’s release

Kabir Humayun: BNP leaders and activists brought out a sudden procession in Dhaka’s Shantinagar yesterday, demanding immediate release of their party chief Khaleda Zia.
The rally led by its Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, brought out on the main road adjacent to Shantinagar Bazar, also protested the trial of BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, reports Banglanews.
They were heard chanting angry slogans in the brief rally begun around 7:45am.
“Bangladesh is now being run following the ‘rules of violation’. Therefore, Khaleda Zia, who is the non-compromising leader to restore the democratic rights of people, has been grilled illegally and the party acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has been given punishment in false case,” Rizvi told the rally.
He urged everyone to stand against the ‘oppression and torture’.
On February 8, a Dhaka court sentenced Khaleda Zia to five years of rigorous imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
