13 killed, 22 hurt in Natore road crash

    Abrar Hussain: At least 13 people were killed and 22 others injured after a bus had a head-on collision with a human hauler, locally known leguna, on Natore-Pabna highway in Baraigram upazila of Natore yesterday afternoon.
    As of writing this report 7:30pm, the identities of the deceased, all boarded on the leguna, are still unknown, reports The Daily Star.
    According to Shamsur Noor, officer-in-charge of Banpara Highway Police Station, the collision took place around 4pm when the speeding bus hit a human hauler coming from the opposite direction at Clickmore area on the highway.
    He added that 10 people died on the spot and 25 passengers of both the vehicles were injured instantly. Three others succumbed to their injuries while being taken to Banpara Amina Hospital.
    Afterwards, a team of Fire Service and Civil Defence and several teams of police from Lalpur Police Station and Banpara Highway Police Station rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation.

    The other injured were taken to different hospitals, including Natore Sadar Hospital and Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

    Meanwhile, the district administration has announced to give Tk 20,000 to the family of each deceased and Tk 10,000 to the injured people, said Natore Deputy Commissioner Shahina Khatun.
