10 rescued from Meghna river after trawler capsize

    Kabir Humayun: Mem-bers of Bangladesh Coast Guard have rescued 10 workers after a brick-laden trawler capsized in the Meghna river in Munshiganj yesterday.
    The rescued people are Abdul Mannan, 32, Md Harun, 27, Md Alamgir, 23, Md Ismail, 30, Md Nurul Haque, 28, Md Moin Uddin, 36, Md Abu Bakar, 26, Md Hatem, 22, Md Amanul Haque, 25, and Md Mohiuddin, 28.
    The Gazaria-bound trawler from Jajira of Keraniganj sank on the Meghna estuary around 9:25am due to overloading, said a coast guard press release.
    On information, a team of coast guards from CG Station (Dhaka Zone) launched an operation and rescued the 10 workers of the trawler, the officials said.
    The sunken trawler could not be salvaged till last reported around 4:30pm.
