2 school students drown in Ramna lake

M Humayun Kabir: Two schoolboys from Willes Little Flower School and College drowned while taking a dip in a lake of Ramna Park yesterday afternoon
The deceased were primarily identified as Mahfuz and Adnan, the ninth grade students of the school, said Sub-inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Police Outpost, reports bdnews24.com.
Citing witnesses, Ramna Police SI Rais Uddin said three students from the school went to bathe in the lake after playing football.
“One of them could swim, but the other two didn’t know how to. At one point, all three became submerged in the water,” he said, adding that people in the area were able to rescue one of the boys alive, but the other two were found unconscious around 3pm.
On information, the fire service sent personnel to the area but the victims were taken to the hospital before the team arrived, said Fire Service Control Room official Ershad Hossain.
