Foreigners among 69 tourists stranded at Kerala Resort after landslides

    Abrar Hussain: Sixty nine tourists, including 20 foreigners, are reportedly stranded at a private resort in the popular tea county of Munnar in Kerala’s Idukki district after the roads leading to the resort became blocked due to landslides caused by intense rain throughout the state.

    The situation has deteriorated to the point that the army has been called for rescue efforts.

    Locals in the mountainous Idukki district are being warned on public announcement system to stay safe. There have been, however, no fresh reports of flooding and landslides in the district.  Meanwhile, a team of revenue officials along with the army is working vigorously to clear the roads to get to the tourists stranded at the Plum Judy resort.
