Kabir Humayun: A suspected drug peddler was killed in ‘crossfire’ with Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Louhajang upazila of Munshiganj early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Maqbul Hossain, 36, a listed drug peddler who was accused in 12 narcotics related cases, said Sub-inspector Harun of Louhajang Police Station, reports The Daily Star.
Md Mohitul Islam, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Rab-11, said the elite force conducted a raid in Purba Kumarbhog area of the upazila around 4am. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, a group of suspected drug peddlers numbering five to six opened fire at them that triggered the gunfight.
