Kabir Humayun: The High court yesterday extended the bail time of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia till August 13 in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
The former premier is currently serving a five-year jail term in the case.
The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mustafizur Rahman passed the order following Khaleda’s lawyer’s prayer for extending her bail, reports The Daily Star.
On March 12, the HC granted four months’ bail to Khaleda in the case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
The four-month bail order expired on July 2 and since then, the HC bench extended the bail order four times.
The HC bench also heard for the 13th day on the appeal filed by Khaleda challenging the lawyer court verdict that convicted her in this case.
The bench adjourned the hearing on the appeal until 10:30am today.
