China to speed up industrialization in Bangladesh

    Asian Age: China has assured that it would continue support to Bangladesh for accelerating the country’s knowledge-based industrialization.
    The commitment came when Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka Zhang Zuo met Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu at the Industries Ministry,an official release said. During the meeting, they discussed various bilateral issues, including Chinese investment, technology transfer and Chinese modern factory transfer to Bangladesh. Amu said the Chinese entrepreneurs are playing a vital role in developing the industrial sector in Bangladesh and the government is also providing all-out support to the investors in the country.
    “The government is setting up a special economic zone in Chattogram for the Chinese investors.
    The Chinese investors can come forward to set up environment-friendly and high technology-based industries in the economic zone,” he said.
    Zhang Zuo said the Chinese entrepreneurs are keen to invest in different sectors, including fertilizer, steel, chemical, ICT, sugar and paper manufacturing industries, in Bangladesh.
    “A Chinese entrepreneur has already invested US$3 billion in steel sector of Bangladesh,” he added.

    Lauding the development of Bangladesh under the leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Zuo said Bangladesh has already become an attractive destination for foreign investment.

    Additional Secretary of the Industries Ministry M Enamul Hoq, Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) Chairman Mustak Hassan M Iftekhar and Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) Chairman Shah M Aminul Hoq were, among others, present at the meeting.
