Myanmar’s unrevealed disinterest halting Rohingya repatriation

Wali-ur Rahman, Former Ambassador : Procrastination and disinterest from Myanmar appears to be an obstacle to repatriate Rogingyas from Bangladesh. Despite being an optimistic person, I can see that there is a static or back affection from Myanmar in this regard. What can Bangladesh in this case? The entire world and the UN are concerned about the Rohingya refugees. India, China, Russia, the US and the EU are also thinking over the matter. The US Congress wants to impose a sanction on the military junta of Myanmar, while the International Criminal Court (Hague)  wants to stop the forced influx of the ethnic group in a systematic.
It is also curious about how the development goes in line with the international law. The court also asked Bangladesh and Myanmar how it can be done. When discussed, many of the UN resolutions match several points mentioned in the Geneva Convention. An ethnic group cleansing is being done by driving away it from its homeland in a systematic way. We may have debate and discussion on the matter. Myanmar has to show its will to take back the Rohingya and has to prove it through its work.
The Rohingya refugees have to be repatriated from Bangladesh and rehabilitated. Otherwise, the matter will remain under question. All will repeatedly consider the thought of the ICC’s question.
Bangladesh is concerned about security and thinks of it. The government is taking measures so that security is not hampered in any means only because of the Rohingya refugees. The Rohingya crisis is not a problem for Bangladesh. Rather it is a global problem. Considering the situation, the UN secretary general and World Bank president are coming to Bangladesh, only to physically visit the Rohingya, with Myanmar facing humanitarian and ethical pressure from all the people and states of the country.
We want see that Myanmar shows respect to human rights. At the same time, we hope the country to take back the Rohingya soon. The refugees are not only creating problem or obstruction on our development but also creating pressure on the national budget.
