Singer Asif denied bail, lands in jail

Sofian Khan: Renowned singer Asif Akbar has been sent to jail following rejection of both the remand and bail petitions over a case under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) act filed by lyricist and singer Shafiq Tuhin.
According to special superintendent of police under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the singer has been arrested from his studio at the capital’s FDC area yesterday.
The order was passed by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Keshab Roy Chowdhury after Tejgaon police produced Asif before it with a five-day remand prayer.
The singer told the court that he was falsely implicated in the case as part of a conspiracy to harass him. The charges brought against him were fabricated, so he appealed to the court to grant him bail cancelling the remand prayer.
According to the case dockets, the singer sold out digital copies of several songs without permission of many singers. Also, he said to have issued public threats and demeaned Tuhin on Facebook live broadcast.
