Sofian Khan: A six-member committee was formed by the Cabinet for further reviewing the Bangladesh Tariff Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2018 draft during a regular weekly cabinet meeting with Principal Secretary to Prime Minister’s Office as its convener yesterday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.
“The draft law was placed before the cabinet today but the meeting sent it back for its further review,” said Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam at a briefing after the meeting.
According to him, the committee convener will be the Principal Secretary, while its Member Secretary will be the Tariff Commission Chairman.
The cabinet was apprised of the visit of the Foreign Minister to Japan on May 13-15 last. The participation of the Bangladesh Delegation led by the Finance Minister in the 51st Board of Governors’ Meeting of the Asian Development Bank meeting was also discussed at the meeting.
