Prof. Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Jagannath University : Anti-drug drives are going on across the country. The number of people supporting the raids is huge. Many discussions are in place regarding the number of casualties, with many interested to know the petty peddlers are being targeted only. How can a permanent solution come if the kingpins are not eliminated?
We need to forward our concentrations towards resolving the crisis. Also, it is necessary to think about how to protect the society from drug addiction. How can we do so? First of all, youths need to be given some other positive addiction instead of a drug. Books can be a good alternative and so can extra-curricular activities.
Opportunities have to be created for them so they can give up drugs. This arrangement can be done in national, social and even in individual level. It is not possible to eliminate drugs  by shooting people to death.
Why are people into drugs? It is because they do not have anything to do. In a country where there is the presence of millions of unemployed, there will be more chances of drug addiction. They have to be cooperated with regards to their employment.
We need to remember that most people get into drugs out of frustration. If they are offered with more opportunities of engagement in different sectors, there will be more chances to uproot this problem. But, all in all, the initial support has to be offered from their own families.
