Sayeed Muhammad: The 119th birth anniversary of the National poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam, has been observed by Kobi Nazrul Institute in Dhaka yesterday.
The institute organised a discussion and a cultural programme on this occasion, with Simin Hossain Rimi, president of the parliamentary standing committee on cultural affairs attending them as the chief guest.
Poet Muhammad Nurul Huda and Somerita Mallik, president, Chhayanat, Kolkata, India, were present during the events.
Dr Abdur Razzak Bhuiyan, executive director of the institute, chaired the discussion where Dhaka University Bangla Professor Dr Soumitra Shekhor.
The audio version of “Nazruler Shatannoti Potro: Srutibhashyo” was also unveiled in the programme.
Somerita said Nazrul never walked the conventional way. He created his own way which is of liberty.
