Anti-narcotics crackdown: 11 more killed in ‘shootouts’ in 9 dists

    Sayeed Muhammad: With the countrywide crackdown on drug dealers continuing, 11 more alleged drug peddlers were killed in ‘gunfights’ with law enforcers in Chattogram, Feni, Cumilla, Brahmanbaria, Narayanganj, Netrakona, Chuadanga, Dinajpur and Nilphamari districts yesterday.
    The tally of those killed in the shootouts since May 12 has reached 40 across the country, reports UNB.
    In Chattogram, listed drug pusher Shukkur Ali, 45, was killed in a reported gun battle with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) at Debarpara under Bayazid Bostamy Police Station of the city around 2:30 am.
    In Feni, Mohammad Manjurul Alam Manju, 49, was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Rab members at Lemua of Sadar upazila. In Cumilla, a gunfight with a joint team of law enforcers at Aranyapur in Sadar upazila killed am left two suspected drug peddlers — Peyar Ali, 24, and Sharif, 26.
