Abrar Hussain: Quota reformists have threatened to boycott classes and examinations in all universities and colleges across the country for indefinite period starting today if the government failed to publish a gazette abolishing quota system by 5:00pm yesterday.Muhammad Rashed Khan, joint convener of Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Adhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad, made the announcement yesterday as he was talking to reporters on Dhaka University campus. The announcement came following protests from 11:00am to 1:00pm demanding the publication of the gazette, reports The Daily Star.As part of the initiative yesterday, students of different universities and colleges boycotted classes for two hours because the government failed to meet the initial deadline of Thursday.The Dhaka University students brought out a procession from the university’s Central Library around 11:30am and then marched through different roads, ending at the foot of Raju Sculpture on the campus.The protesters did not attend classes during the two-hour strike, but examinations were held as per the schedule.As of writing this report at 7:30pm yesterday, the government has not yet delivered any announcement on the publication of the gazette.
