The environment of two city corporation elections is so far so good. BNP’s has long standing anger against Present Police (SP) super of Gazipur, Harun. Jainal Abedin Faruque was the Whip of BNP and an unpleasant incident happened with him in front of the Parliament, a matter that we did not forget. As part of this, charges had been made repeatedly against Harun. The Election Commission cannot take any action based on a perception. They said in public that they cannot take any action if BNP leaders are complaining out of anger. Raising many allegations is just a tactic to make the polls questionable. So there is no reason to panic about the arrest of the activists. BNP standing committee member, Khandaker Musharraf, complained that the Election Commission is being run by the administration, which is not true. The in-house staff members of the Election Commission mainly look after these issues. The CEC has not yet received any evidence supporting BNP’s allegations.
