Merkel visits Trump hoping to head off transatlantic trade war

    Afrida Ahmed: German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited the White House on Friday, to have a meeting with Donald Trump to talk about ways to save the Iran nuclear deal, avoid the biggest trade war and to fix her relationship with the US president. The three day festival between Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel  Macron this week has already overlooked the German leader’s visit. The witty chancellor encountered many awkward joint appearances with her host and publicly had a clash over defense spending, trade and migration when she visited Washington last time.
