No Need for Creating Controversy on CJ Appointment: Anisul Huq

    Law Minister Anisul Huq assured that the President is unlikely to keep the Chief Justice vacant for long. New Chief Justice will soon be appointed and there is no need for creating any controversy regarding this. The law minister remarked these while on thursday he attended a training course at Judiciary Administration Training Institute for additional district and sessions judges. As CJ administers the oath of judges, no new judge can be given appointment until the appointment of a chief justice. According to Section 97 of our Constitution, there are scopes for an acting chief minister. The constitutions suggests that he (acting CJ) can can use equal power as the CJ and the senior most Judge of the Appellate Division will be eligible for the post. After taking leave on October 3, Former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha amid various speculations resigned on November 11. Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, senior most Judge of the Appellate Division was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice following the section 97.
