Police has tightened their security measurements as Pope Francis, by Vatican spokesman Greg Burke announced his visit to Bangladesh. He while in the country will visit the Rohingya Refugee Camp at Cox’s Bazar followed by his meeting with the head of Myanmar’s army on November 27.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shohidul Haque while chairing a meeting at the Police Headquarters on Wednesday discussed about this. The Pope’s official Bangladesh visit is about to be on November 30 till December 2.Myanmar Army was accused by Rights Groups of mass rape against the stateless Rohingya while carrying out their clearance operations. Myanmar authority later denied most of the claims and claimed their investigations found no evidence of wrongdoing by their troops.The Pope’s visit was a result of invitation by Prime-Minister Sheikh Hasina and Catholic Archbishop of Dhaka Cardinal Patrick D’Rozario. He will therefore be received by President Abdul Hamid at the Airport.
