New auto-rickshaw hailing app expected to reduce hassles

    Sofian Khan: Three wh-eelers, commonly knows as CNG’s auto-rickshaws are to be newly introduced by ride-hailing auto-rickshaw apps, reports BDnews24. After the introduction of Uber and Pathao in the country, drivers of three wheelers seem to struggle to cope up with the domination.
    Share a Motorcycle or SAM first introduced auto-rickshaw option for the commuters to choose but later excluded it as auto-rickshaws were not mentioned in their policy and finding the owners for consultations wasn’t possible.
    A representative of the project, Hello CNG, ASM Jamal confirmed the new auto-rickshaw hailing app is to be introduced by January on the Play Store. For their first fleet under the app, they currently are training 150 auto-rickshaw drivers to accustom them with technologies.
    Jamal said that the fare will be a little higher than the government rates. For the first two kilometres, commuters will be charged the regular 40 taka. For each next kilometres they will be charged taka 13 instead of taka 12. But initially, the new app is hoped to reduce hassles for commuters dealing with the auto-rickshaw drivers.
    BRTA Chairman Md Moshiar Rahman said the new app will result three-wheeler drivers from charging extra to the commuters.
    Mentioning the app regulators, he said that there are no chances for them to charge higher than the government rate.After UBER was introduced in Dhaka, Pathao joined in the newly formed ride-hailing app industry to meet demands of people of all classes.
    Commuters accepted them in a wide range as the new services were fast, reliable, efficient and was providing them the window to avoid exorbitant fare and reluctancy of the auto-rickshaw drivers.
