Biswajit’s ‘Sarangshe Tumi’ at SAARC Film Festival

    National Film Award winning popular singer and music director Kumar Biswajit’s musical film ‘Sarangshe Tumi’ is scheduled to be screened at the seventh edition of the ongoing SAARC Film Festival in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The festival will open with Indian film “Pinky Beauty Parlour”, and feature a total of 24 feature-length and short films. ‘Sarangshe Tumi’ tells a romantic story of love and affection. The 42 minutes lengthy film is scripted by National Film Award and Ekushey Padak winning lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar and directed by acclaimed director Ashiqur Rahman. Actor,model Antu Kareem and Raha Tanha Khan appeared in the film. This film has eight duet songs which includes of Samina Chowdhury, Nancy , Kumar Biswajit and Kolkata’s Shuvomita Banerjee. The film has been featured in the short film section of the festival.
    Kumar Biswajit said about the film that ‘This is surely good news for our film. I love being able to entertain foreign viewers across the boundaries of the country with songs composed by me. The film portrays the country and its different beautiful locations unlike ever before. My gratitude to all those involved in the film. I hope that the Bangla Dholl will create such great work in future. Alongside ‘Sarangshe Tumi’, three other Bangladeshi films ‘Premi o Premi’, ‘Anil Bagchir Ekdin’ and ‘Oggatonama’ have been invited to participate at the international film festival.
    This Film Festival is different from other Film Festivals, as the SAARC Member States nominate some of their art work which showcases the cinematic imagination of the SAARC Region, using the medium of Film. Reputed panels of international judges select the best films, and several awards are presented as an incentive to continue producing quality, thought provoking and representational films for the Region.
