Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) proposes of 6.24% price increase of electricity in their public-hearing at Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission. They also requested for increase of service & demand charges. Currently DPDC is in-charge of distributing power throughout Dhaka South City Corporation & Naryanganj area. They have total of 9, 86,176 consumers. Out of them 88.41% are residents.
DPDC reported that, currently for per unit power they lose about 43 paisa. They already lost 350 crores taka this fiscal year alone. They added that, this is due to increase in manpower, structural & other waste expenses. This was the 4th day of public-hearings arranged by the commission regarding the recent electricity price-increasing step.
