‘Travelling on the road can be fulfilled without the flyover-elevated express’

Roads and transport experts said that without the flyover and elevated expressways, it can be possible to meet the demand of traveling on the current road of capital Dhaka.Experts at a meeting titled ‘Development of Public Transportation and Control of Personal Vehicle’ organized by Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority in the city’s CIRDAP auditorium on Thursday noon. They say that the use of private cars is increasing due to the increased demand for transport and lack of walking environment along with the traffic in the capital city. Though 93 percent of transportation is carried out by public transport, walking and rickshaws, the prevalence of these mediums was not ensured in the plan. In this situation the government is focusing on flyover and elevated expressway. But in addition to these mediums, it is possible to meet the demands of the current road of capital Dhaka. In this case, they need double-decker buses and separate lanes for them.
