Stephen Colbert and the The Late Show returned from a week off Monday and the host addressed the numerous fatal shootings that unfolded while he was off the air.
Following the police shootings of two black men, who appeared not to have been brandishing weapons at the time they were shot dead, and the ambush slayings of five police officers in Dallas, which appear to have been retaliation for the aforementioned shootings, Colbert said one of his staffers created a hashtag in the hopes of sharing some innocence and happiness.
