For the first time astronomers were successful in identifying a Binary Star System of Hyper-Velocity. Also experts are saying, it came from a different galaxy! It was never originated in our galaxy! On the top of that, it has been disproving many of the modern physics theories. It has already disproved the hypothesis behind the forming and structure of Hyper-Velocity Stars. Now, recent studies determine to totally change the way we think of Dark Matters or Energy. It is about time Stephen Hawking starts remodeling Dark Matters’ theories.
This incredible Binary Star System was first discovered by a group physicist at the Alexander University in Germany with the data collected from the Sloan Digital Sky-Survey (SDSS) in 2011. Though it was thought to be a single Hyper-Velocity star during then. But recent unusual studies again attracted their attention to it. Finally, they were able to confirm the co-existence of two stars orbiting together at a space center, in a very close distance (Much like when two kids do fast spins at a spot tightly holding hands). It was possible by the help of modern 10-metre Keck II telescope in Hawaii and the 8.2-metre Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile.
Hyper-Velocity Star means the stars that is hurling through galaxy at a very high speed. Not only that, they possess much kinetic force due to their speed that they may escape their origin galaxy! So far only 20 of them were discovered. Such as US 708. It, moves at a speed of 1,198 km per second. By that speed it would take only 5 minutes to travel to the moon from the earth. One of the researchers who found US 708, Eugene Magnier at the University of Hawaii also mentioned, US 708 would eventually escape Milky Way in about 25 million years.
Much like that, the newly discovered first ever Hyper-Velocity Binary System PB3877 also has the escape velocity of our galaxy, or even more. It is a blessing that, it is 18,000 light-years away from Earth. Though, that is near the edge of the Milky Way. Ulrich Heber of the discovery team also mentioned, from the looks of it, the stars are moving even more towards to the end, kind of like they are very much determined to leave this galaxy!
The researchers also saying that, this is also the way how these binary stars entered our Milky Way from some neighboring galaxy. Since, they do not seem share the historical path to our galaxy’s center. Formerly, the hyper-velocity starts were only could be found near the galaxy’s center black hole. It was also believed to be the source of their great momentum. But PB3877 indicates otherwise. Its trajectory never came close to the Galactic Center. Even the proposed thought about stellar collisions or a supernova explosion were proved to be dissatisfied, says Eva Ziegerer, one of the researching team member. There is no way they could be accelerated by a supermassive black hole.
The oddest thing fact of these two stars are that, both the hot (5 times hotter than our Sun) and the cold (1000 degree less than our Sun) one have about the same and high radial velocity. Though, no trace weak absorption lines from the hot star could be found as its origin from our galaxy. Thomas Kupfer from the California Institute of Technology says, that categorizes them as Wide Binary Stars. Which more strengthens the fact that this pair of hyper-velocity stars are really alien to our galaxy!
Andreas Irrgang at the Dr Karl Remeis-Observatory in Germany confidently saying that, there must be dense presence of dark matter in halo model that is keeping them together. Also, physicists need to create the most massive galaxy model to understand the laws of physics regarding these alien stars.
