Suicide Squad actress Viola Davis has said that she “almost had my pepper spray out” the first time she met Jared Leto as The Joker.
Leto recently revealed that he spent time scaring passers-by in New York and Toronto in order to perfect the Joker’s laugh.
He also had a dead pig and a black rat delivered to his castmates, and admitted to arranging meetings with convicted psychopaths and “people who had committed horrendous crimes”, as well as the doctors and psychiatrists who treated them.
Discussing Leto’s super-method approach to the role, which also involved him sending a box of bullets to his cast-mates, Davis told E!: “It was a little worrisome. It made you a little bit nervous and I’m pretty tough. You know I got into a few fights when I was growing up… but it scared me a little bit.”
