I read in an article somewhere that drummers feel like the most unappreciated musicians in the world. I don’t know about that but I surely know some bands that would be nothing without their drummers. Common could you possibly have imagined Dream Theatre without Portnoy or even Blink-182 without Travis Barker? Yea right!

Well wanna now something- Drummers are AWESOME and they even their brains are wired differently to other musicians- And a promotional video from GE proves it! If you’ve seen the video (which you should- like right NOW!) you’ll see that while playing the drums your arms and ears pulse to the rhythm and the beat, your motor cortex will begins to light up and results in a stronger connection to the brain, eventually this leads to some bad ass cognitive skills.

A study from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm found a link to great problem solving skills, time management skills in drummers. Drummers who could keep a steady beat for a longer duration scored high on the intelligence test. This isn’t all. Drummers prove that sharing is caring ‘cuz it’s been proved that drummers can transfer a natural intelligence to others i.e listening to a steady beat improves the cognitive state of brains.
Robin Dunbar, a psychologist at the University of Oxford found that the endorphin filled act of drumming actually increases positive emotion that leads people to work together in a more co-operative fashion.

I’m telling you guys pay attention to the beat it’s the heart of any music. Neuroscientist David Eagleman concludes that drummers have an incredibly “unique make-up- basically their brains are made up differently”
