The struggle to fall asleep even when you are not tired is real. I remember counting 1-100 in the reverse direction but that hardly ever worked in my case.
Soothing music although works at time but in my case, that was not a remedy either. There are ways you can actually relax you body and soul to make yourself fall into sleep. Here is a guide, which will assist you with your sleeping schedule.
1. Control Temperature: Set the temperature of the room a shade cooler than the temperature you are accustomed to. A cooler temperature stimulates sleep. However, do not let yourself to cool down on a great extent because that will just lead to a disruptive sleep cycle.
2. Adjust Lighting: Now I know some of you keep the lights switched on because you are scared of supernatural power, which might kill you in the middle of the night; well I do not blame you because I suffer from a similar kind of anxiety. If you want to put yourself to sleep, it is always better to dim the lights or cover your eyes. If you are a fan of darkness then you might want to ensure that any objects emitting light are properly covered.
3. Avoid alcohol or caffeine: Although alcohol can indulge you into more sleepiness but it actually puts you into a less deep sleep. Intake of caffeine can can your body 8 hours to get rid of it. If you want to doze off then it is probably not a good idea to consume alcohol or caffeine before sleep.
4. Perform Exercises: Rigorous exercise such as hitting the gym, going for a run and/or stretching will get your heart rate going before you easy yourself into bed. Exercises will make you tired and contributes as an effective method to put you to a sound sleep.
